The Lava Pond Lodge was built for this climate: a 20-foot great room ceiling, a lava rock fireplace, and Craftsman woodwork throughout, designed by Canadian architect John Robinson and built by Paul Baillie & Sons of Keaʻau. All suites have private baths, cozy fireplaces, artisan beds, and a gourmet tropical breakfast every morning. The lodge is nestled in a native Hawaiian rain forest under a lush canopy of giant ferns and Ohia trees in the storybook arts community of Volcano.

We are secluded in the forest yet just 5 minutes from the entrance of Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park with its spectacular hiking trails, scenic vistas and lava viewing. Volcano is 27 miles from the Hilo airport and 96 miles from Kailua- Kona.
